Five Minute Friday : Community

Funny how community would be the five minute Friday prompt this week.
The word community has been on my mind this week;
especially because I had the privilege of watching my 12 year old daughter work with our community this past week.
She hopped on her beach cruiser with a brown grocery sack all for collecting canned foods for her schools food pantry.  She did this for two days with such determination;

she accomplished her goal; filling a large sized rubber maid container in our garage- she filled it to the top!
I couldn't help but be so thankful for our community; and their desire to help fill that box for those in need!
Thank you to our community; these past couple days were a beautiful sight!  Not only to my eyes; but for my little girls eyes as well.  She got to experience first hand how she can make a difference! Amen to that!!!

Five Minute Friday on Saturday: Good-Bye

It is time to say goodbye, as he heads out from the hospital to his home in a medical transport van.
A moment I just know I wont see him again...(not on this earth anyway).
It is time...
time to say goodbye- for now- until the day we meet again in heaven.
For now I embrace, the feeling of warmth on his forehead, and him squeezing my hand as I kiss him goodbye, and tell him I love him so much. I say "Grandpa you're going home"! He says "You bet I am!" in that slight southern accent he's always had. This with a smile and twinkle in his eye that I will treasure for eternity.
He left this earth 7 days later.
Goodbye Grandpa....for now- I Love you so Much and Welcome to your forever home!

When my Fathers' word just jumps off the page!

"But godliness with contentment is great gain" 1 Timothy 6:6

I love it! Just when I think I've read just about every meaningful verse there is; God reminds me- there will always be a verse; and He will always find just the right place & the right time for it to speak to my heart. He loves us SO MUCH!

I just love when Gods' word jumps right off the page- and leaps straight to my heart. That's what happened to me today while reading this devotional from Amy Carroll of Proverbs 31 ministries. Click here and read it; I just know you'll feel encouraged and content in where God has you planted.

Picture Perfect Memory Monday

Camera phones are fun!

This is my beautiful Mom and Dad last summer at Big Bear lake.

Where I spend some of my Sundays working at the coffee shop at our church.

Sometimes I get these crazy fashion ideas; this outfit can be pieced together in 3 COMPLETELY different ways- here's one of them... Make use of everything you've got in your closet right???

Shianne and her award winning Science Fair Project... She got to take this to Regionals over Spring Break!!!

Okay...and you know when your child has a teacher that is just so genuinely proud of your student; and enjoys every moment of watching them grow- that is Mrs. Wight; she absolutely the best!!!

Shianne receiving an award at the Basketball Banquet for "Most Improved Player" she was the only 6th grade girl on her team; we couldn't be prouder.

Pause for a moment for a picture of Brenden; our trooper getting his lower braces on last week.

And creating a picture for my Papaw; who sends us ice cream treats all the time!!!
I thought this came out so cute...

And now off to the Regional Science Fair Awards ceremony where Shianne receives a bronze medal for her project!!!

And this dessert- COMPLETELY SHAREABLE!!!!

Happy Easter!
and...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA!!!!

Five Minute Friday: Light

"You are the Light of the world; a city on a hill cannot be hidden" I hear this song playing in my head; a song by Hillsong worship team.
It is a song that I clearly remember singing more than 12 years ago; while expecting my first child. I remember driving in my car as a baby christian belting these lyrics out to my Savior. Feeling every lyric lift my soul.
Thinking on the word "Light" this morning
This is who I yearn to be,
This is who I pray my children will yearn to be,
This is what I pray my marriage to display; His light.
Because a city on a Hill cannot be hidden!
I pray that we can live a life in this way; being His light in this dark world-
so that others can feel Gods precious, never-ending love lift their souls too.
That they be given a reason to sing, a reason to shout, so they will get to experience what it's like when He lights their world!

"You are the light of the world. A city on a Hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on it's stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

My Testimony in Song...

This song is beautiful!!! If I could place my testimony in a song- this would be it!!! He's been walking with me all this time; and I promise you this;
He's walking with you too!

Britt Nicols new song; "All this Time"
