1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
"Love
is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is
not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily
angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres".
Tonight I looked up the definition of envy;
it is best defined as a "resentful emotion" that occurs when a person lacks another's "(perceived)" superior quality
achievement or possession and wishes that the other lacked it.
Ouch!
You see- Love does not envy;
Ouch!
I believe a lot of my fears as a Mother; come from watching others doing it better than I do.
That quickly turns into a fear of not being able to measure up to June Cleaver.
Yes I'm young'ish but I remember June Cleaver.
I remember her in her kitchen, apron on, cookies in a platter- and always a welcoming smile when her kids arrived from school.
Somehow early on in my childhood
I had it set in my mind that is what a Mother is.
Her home looked so peaceful
and I could totally be her!
That was setting me up for failure for sure.
Because I grew up; and found out quickly there are trials in life,
and tons of them.
Easy will never be constant, neither will peaceful.
Things are bound to happen.
I have come to learn that God has blessed us with the family we have;
He perfectly formed and planned each one of my children as a masterpiece of His creation.
He created them for Me.
He created them for me specifically; He knew just who I needed-
and He blessed me with three of His best works of art.
You see- Love does not envy;
therefore;
I will stay perfectly content with the beauty that He has so lovingly surrounded me with.
There is no need to wish I attained anothers' achievments;
but enjoy the ones I already have!
That is what God wants for all of us, and He is the only place where Peace
"is always" constant and waiting!
Thank you Jesus!
